Chlorine dioxide generators
The CDC-800 series of on site chlorine dioxide generators are fully automatic and are delivered pre plumbed/ wired ready to go. Fully free standing and all within an IP65 enclosure with lockable door. Our generators can be used in many industries including the following:
• vegetable processing
• poultry processing
• brewing
• bore hole water
• potable water
• Legionella control
• CIP rinse waters
• other water disinfection, cooling water, process water, hot and cold water services.

The CDC-800 WIND 8 chlorine dioxide generator dosing system incorporates a Walchem WIND industrial controller. The CDC-800 WIND 8 is as per the standard CDC-800 unit, but with the following enhancements:
• direct sensor measurements and control of chlorine dioxide
• dilution water flow switch fitted
• fully integrates functions of a transmitter, PLC, datalogger and auto-dialter in IP65 control box
• no proprietary software required to view live data, just a standard web browser
• no expensive PLC programming and re-programming. easily changed using web browser
• extensive built-in plug and play communications options available
• ethernet, USB (laptop and flash disk support), landline modem, cell modem available
• instant alarm notification via cell phone text message, e-mail, or local alarm
• system status reports and data log files can be e-mailed automatically
• meets UL, CSA and CE safety and performance standards

Reactivity and stability at elevated temperatures
It is well known that the effectiveness of chlorine decreases as the temperature of the treated water rises. This being due to the chemical breakdown of the biocide species - hypochlorous acid, formed by chemical reaction of chlorine with water. Because chlorine dioxide does not react with water, (it is present as a dissolved gas) thermal breakdown is minimal. Use at very high temperatures, particularly where the water is also aerated, will result in loss of chlorine dioxide. But overall the performance of chlorine dioxide at higher water temperatures is much superior to that of chlorine.

Advantages of chlorine dioxide

Broad spectrum activity
Effective against all types of bacteria, algae, and fungi. Several investigations have shown it to be more sporicidal than chlorine.

Fast acting
Only a short contact time, generally within a few minutes, is required to achieve a very significant kill at typical use levels.

Effective at low concentrations
A high level of disinfections is achieved at residual concentrations of between 0.3 and 0.5ppm.
Approved for use-in drinking water
Biotek - 800 series Chlorine Dioxide has approval under the water supply (Water Quality Regulations 1989 as amended by the Water Supply -Water Quality Amendment) Regulations - 1991. Regulations 25 and 26.

Residuals are readily monitored
Quick and accurate chemical and instrumental methods of analysis are readily available, the latter being used to control the production and addition of chlorine dioxide solution to the water being treated, and is a standard feature of the CDC-800 ClO2 Generator.

Bacterial resistance doesn't build up
Resistant strains do not proliferate with continued use of chlorine dioxide.

Reactions with organic compounds present in water
In water chlorine dioxide does not chlorinate organic compounds such as naturally occurring phenolics. The potential taint is thus very considerably reduced. Unlike chlorine, chlorine dioxide does not produce tri-halo methane type chemicals (THM's) or absorbable organic halogens (AOX's) - both classes of chemicals being seen as highly undesirable in the environment.

Effective over a wide pH range
Unlike chlorine, which shows significant loss of activity at pH values in excess of 7.5, chlorine dioxide retains its activity at pH values in excess of 9.0.

Persistence
Chlorine dioxide residuals in the treated water remain present for longer periods than in the case with chlorine. This means that chlorine dioxide treated water retains its microbiological quality longer, which in turn has the following benefits to the site:
1) Treated water can be piped for long distances within the site without compromising its microbiological quality.
2) Treated water supplied to water handling plants, hygiene washing plant and evaporative cooling towers is of a much higher microbiological quality than is the case with chlorine-based biocides. Experience has shown that subsequent microbiological control of the water used in such equipment is more readily achieved, often with some economies in further biocide use.
